Eric Schmiedl is an award-winning reporter and editor who has worked in journalism since 1989. He has a degree in English language and literature from the University of Waterloo and a journalism diploma from Kitchener's Conestoga College. He has won accolades from the Ontario Newspaper Awards, the Canadian Community Newspapers Association and the Ontario Community Newspapers Association. Among the people he has interviewed include former Reform party leader Preston Manning, former prime minister Paul Martin and former Canadian Labour Congress leader Bob White. Currently, he is a contributing editor to Oxford Insight, a periodic newspaper that focuses on problems faced by impoverished people. Politics, business, health, crime, courts and the environment are among the areas he has written about.
